New Years Eve Contra Ball: Countercurrent + Jesse Partridge

Band: Nationally touring band Countercurrent hails from Olympia, WA — Alex Sturbaum & Brian Lindsay, a powerhouse acoustic duo based in Olympia, WA featuring fiddle, guitar, harmony vocals, and foot percussion. Contra dance & folk music that will rock your socks. A flurry of fiddle, a ginormous gallop of guitar. One of the best dance bands on the west coast!
Caller/Instructor: Of Olympia, WA, Jesse Partridge: by progeny, a man of birds, Jesse will take us all under the wing that we may all be birds of a feather dancing together, plucking up the courage to spread our wings and dance to our hearts content, light on the feet, as light as a feather, shaking our tail feathers, such that the year’s travails are nothing but water off a duck’s back. Duck duck goose, my friends, this is no wild goose chase, we shall all end the night as proud as a peacock and with two thousand twenty six feathers in our caps. (more normal bio below)

Coffee, snacks provided. Sparkling cider toast at midnight. Ball drop with the Jewel of Bellingham.

- Jesse calling at Seattle’s Northwest Folklife Festival
Jesse started life as a fiddler, which led him to become a
contra dancer, dance organizer, and dance caller. He teaches orchestra
at the Olympia Waldorf School and fiddle lessons privately. Jesse can
often be found at local contra dances throughout the Pacific Northwest as a
musician, caller, or participant. He lives in swell time with an orange
tabby cat named Sunny.
