American Contra Dance: Our most regular longest running dance series held 2nd,, 4th, and 5th Saturdays from September to June (with a few exceptions). What is American contra? Imagine a Jane Austen scene with dancing, but less formal, more peppy, and with Irish fiddle music. It’s all ages and it’s a good ol’ time. For the schedule see here. For general info see here.
Waltz: Every dance has a waltz at the break and one at the end of the night. Waltzing is the smooth and flowing counterpoint to the upbeat contra and square dancing. It leaves much more room for interpretation and dance flourishes and twirls
American Square Dance: Starting February 21, 2026 and running till May 16, we’ll have a monthly third Saturday “Square Dance and Potluck”. What is American Square Dance? Perhaps you did it in elementary school or high school, but it is a group dance with 4 couples arranged as the four sides of a square and facing each others. Then you do fun choreography amongst each other. As opposed to contra, the calls sometimes have rhymes. “do-si-do from the head to the toe” , “swing that little lady and don’t be afraid, swing her right and you’ll make the grade”. Square dance is the most beginner friendly.
