About BCDS

The Bellingham Country Dance Society presents an ongoing series of participatory old-time country dances, mostly New England contras with some squares and circles thrown in.

Dances are at the historic Fairhaven Library in the beautiful city of subdued excitement known as Bellingham, Washington unless otherwise noted on the schedule. Always live music. All dances are taught. Everyone is welcome. No partner necessary. We recommend loose-fitting clothing, and soft-soled non-street shoes to protect the dance floor. Please do not wear fragrances to dances, since some folks are sensitive.

BCDS is a non-profit educational organization affiliated with the Country Dance and Song Society and is organized in compliance with IRS code, section 501(c)3.

There are usually several special events scheduled throughout the year. These are noted in our schedules and have included summer outdoor dancing, all-day or dusk-to-dawn dances, New Years Eve dance galas with two bands, and ferry boat dance-cruises of the San Juan Islands.
